Mask Making Instructions materials: 12.5x11 inch fabric and suitable thread 3 feet of twine or 2 feet of narrow and one cord lock elastic cord thin metal flashing or heavy foil medical tape tools: scissors, sewing needles, punch to make holes in foil a sewing machine is great but not essential steps: Cut out the nose piece Punch holes slightly larger than your cord Wrap tape around the sharp edges Shape the nose piece to your nose Insert cord from the inside of the nose piece and secure it with a small knot. Decide how much cord you need for your face Test the fit of the nose piece and cord Fold and flatten your fabric, iron it if you like Print out pattern checking the ruler scale Lay out pattern on fabric, matching folded edge Pin pattern to fabric, and Cut it out Pin the sides where the cord does not run and sew those Run the cord along sides marked in green, Fold fabric over cord, and Pin the fabric Sew each side where the cord runs, being careful to avoid sewing down the cord If you are using a cord lock, put it at the bottom, for wearing under the chin. Wrap the nose piece in fabric, trim excess fabric and hand-sew the fabric around it. The finished mask resembles a shower cap with a beak at one end, and a cord lock at the other. Put on the mask by loosening the cord lock, if you have one, putting the nose piece on your nose, pulling the cord out each side, and putting it behind your ear. Smaller faces will fit better with the cord crossing in front of each ear. Finally, tighten it with the cord lock.
